Job description
Houlihan are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join an experienced commercial team.
The successful applicant will be integrated within a well-established commercial team to assist in the day to day running of a number of civils projects simultaneously.
We are looking for a dynamic and competent surveyor preferably with an understanding of civils/groundworks within the Construction Industry.
Responsibilities
- Commercial administration and management on a number of live projects or projects at pre- construction phase
- Competent in understanding technical drawings and measurement.
- Timely submission of monthly valuations
- Cost reporting and preparation of final accounts
- Control of variation accounts and management of invoices/payments received
- Produce documentation to assist the estimating teams for the preparation of tenders
- Liaising with the buyers on materials procurement
- Management of day to day cost control, monitoring and reporting.
- Consideration for value engineering
- An understanding of Contract Law, specification and pricing
- Subcontractor selection and ensure the chosen subcontractor has the appropriate order and information to carry out their works
- Review and management of online drawing collaboration systems
- Regular site attendance to support the construction and surveying teams
- To act in a professional manner in this client facing role
- Monthly reporting to senior management on project progress and cost analysis
Requirements
Essential
- Qualified to degree level ideally with a construction related degree
Desirable
- First rate communication skills
- Good at developing relationships
- Dynamic – office and site based therefore the ability to travel is essential
- Excellent level of numeracy and literacy skills
- IT skills including Microsoft packages – Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Bluebeam etc.
- Self–motivated and enthusiastic
- Excellent organisation skills
- Resilient within a fast paced industry with ever increasing client demands
