Job description

Houlihan are recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join an experienced commercial team.

The successful applicant will be integrated within a well-established commercial team to assist in the day to day running of a number of civils projects simultaneously. 

We are looking for a dynamic and competent surveyor preferably with an understanding of civils/groundworks within the Construction Industry.  

Responsibilities

  • Commercial administration and management on a number of live projects or projects at pre- construction phase
  • Competent in understanding technical drawings and measurement.
  • Timely submission of monthly valuations
  • Cost reporting and preparation of final accounts
  • Control of variation accounts and management of invoices/payments received
  • Produce documentation to assist the estimating teams for the preparation of tenders
  • Liaising with the buyers on materials procurement
  • Management of day to day cost control, monitoring and reporting.
  • Consideration for value engineering
  • An understanding of Contract Law, specification and pricing
  • Subcontractor selection and ensure the chosen subcontractor has the appropriate order and information to carry out their works
  • Review and management of online drawing collaboration systems
  • Regular site attendance to support the construction and surveying teams
  • To act in a professional manner in this client facing role
  • Monthly reporting to senior management on project progress and cost analysis

Requirements

Essential

  • Qualified to degree level ideally with a construction related degree

Desirable

  • First rate communication skills
  • Good at developing relationships
  • Dynamic – office and site based therefore the ability to travel is essential
  • Excellent level of numeracy and literacy skills
  • IT skills including Microsoft packages – Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Bluebeam etc.
  • Self–motivated and enthusiastic
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Resilient within a fast paced industry with ever increasing client demands
